Following on from a sell out 2018/19 Winter Series, Thetford Racing will once again be organising this increasingly popular Winter Series MTB XC Race Series. Keeping with the ethos of a ‘back to basics’ series for the Eastern Region. The Winter Series is designed to promote an all-inclusive ethos with stripped back categories and a relaxed atmosphere with close, competitive racing.

This race series will take place across two counties, taking in some old favourite venues and some new and exciting routes! Each of the 4 rounds will have categories from.1 hour to 3 hour races. The racing has been designed so that all competitors finish at the same time so the podium presentations are well attended.

There will be a total limit of 300 riders per event, so it will never be too congested on the course and plenty of room to enjoy the famous East Anglian Single Track! With the rider limit of 300 riders per event, all 4 rounds sold out last year so we do advise to get that entry in sooner rather than later as it’s not uncommon for all places to sell!

Race Format

1 Hour Race

This race is for the novice rider, looking to gain the experience of what mountain bike racing in East Anglia is all about. All competitors in this race category will receive finish positions and overall classification but there will be no prizes offered. As a result we are able to offer a reduced entry fee. This category is purely to gain experience of mountain bike racing.

1.5 Hour Race

Racing on the same course as the longer three hour race, entrants will race for one and a half hours plus one lap, with the winner being decided upon the rider who completes the most amount of laps in the allotted time. As long as you start your last lap before the 1hr 30minutes is up the lap will count towards your overall race position.

3 Hour Race

Test your endurance throughout the winter with the three hour race. Like the one and a half hours race, entrants will race for three hours plus one lap. So if you start your last lap before the three hour time limit is up this will count towards you final finishing position. The winner will be deemed by the greatest number of laps completed during the race.

On race day there will prizes and medals for the top three finishes in the Youth 1 hour race, 1.5 hour and 3 hour races for each category and overall series points awarded to all.

To qualify for the overall series positions you will need to race in 3 out of the 4 rounds.
